Visit Cambridge University where Newton, Darwin, Hawkins, and Prince Charles graduated; eat in the college hall and wander in the college’s garden just like how the proper students do.
Staying at Cambridge University is indeed a great alternative accommodation on the budget compared to Cambridge city hotels, bed & breakfasts, and hostels.
My personal favourite is the Queen’s College as you get the chance to explore the famous Mathematical Bridge on “The Backs” over the River Cam and have the unlimited instagramable selfies.
The availability is mainly during the academic vacation period:
Easter: mid-March to mid-April
Summer: mid-June to mid-October
Christmas: the beginning of December to mid-January
